I've been asked how and why and what influenced me to make a western movie, so here goes.
First off my biggest influence is Director Sergio Leone and his films, The Good The Bad and The Ugly and Once Upon a Time in The West, A Fist Full of Dollars , A Few Dollars More, ect. I love old western movies, even the newer ones like The Long Riders, Young Guns, Purgatory, and Tombstone, but my faves are the older gritty ones like One Eyed Jacks with Marlon Brando, anything John Wayne, or Clint Eastwood, but my all time favorites were "My Name is Nobody" and "SHANE", Secondly, growing up in the south I heard horror stories about little rural communities in the 1800's that were destroyed even wiped out because of modern growth , little towns like Pinetucky Ga, which was taken over by Fort Gordon in the early part of this century, and now all but forgotten, The Novel written by Erskine Cauldwell that scandalized the south , and Augusta itself "Tobbaco Road" also ran thru Pinetucky this coupled with the fact that the legendary gunfighter Doc Holliday (John Henry Holliday) was born in Griffin Ga, and raised in Valdosta Ga. and later lived and worked in Atlanta Ga. before heading west where he eventually met Wyatt Earp and was in involved in the most famous Gunfight in American history "The Shoot out at the O.K. Coral."
